Shal Marshall…Let’s Start A Party

This song truly makes one think of the origins of soca music…

Soca – A style of music, originating in Trinidad and Tobago, that is a blend of Soul and Calypso. Originally combining the melodic lilting sound of Calypso with insistent percussion (which is often electronic in recent music) and local Groovey and Chutney music. This music was made popular by reputed father of Soca, Lord Shorty in 1973. This genre of music has evolved several times and has become the driving force in the nation’s carnival. The revolution would not have been possible without the contributions of the pioneers of calypso and soca music; Roaring Lion, Lord Kitchener, The Mighty Sparrow, Baron, David Rudder, Arrow, Blue Boy, and many more.

Shal Marshall and GBM Productions seek to pay homage to the contributions¬† of the soca greats with this fusion of soca from the old and new generations. This one is music to make you dance… Get ready to P-A-R-T-Y!!!
