Reggae crooner Delmark Spence, older brother to well-known Dancehall Artiste Konshens, has been creating waves in the industry for close to a decade. Adopting the moniker Delus, this artist has effectively developed his own musical identity with his soothing vocal renditions and lyrical prowess.
Escaping the monotony of a nine-five, Delus found refuge in the recording booth, where he recorded tracks such as, “What Tomorrow May Bring”, “True Love”, “Another Gal” and “Get Away” to name a few. Teaming up with producers and labels such as Subkonshus Music, Quick Keys, Union World/Fireman Crew, Warrior Music and Notis Productions, Delus released a variety of singles which showcased his diversity with other genres outside of reggae.
Delus has been described by Jamaica Gleaner Writer, Curtis Campbell as “a consistent act on the local music scene”, and was nominated in 2011 for an EME Award (Excellence in Music and Entertainment) in the category of ‘Most Improved Artiste’.
His first EP, “Public Relations” was released in March, 2015 and is currently available on iTunes and Zojakworldwide.com. It is an eclectic eight track EP which features tunes with subjects ranging from social commentary to matters of the heart. This sought after EP is infused with classic reggae grooves, as well as mixes from various genres showcasing Delus’ versatility.
The artiste endeavors to maintain his consistency by kicking off a promotional tour throughout Europe, the United States and the Caribbean. “I am happy to be on the road again” Delus states, “and will make use of every opportunity that comes my way. I know my music will speak for itself.”
Constantly on the move, Delus recently recorded a single entitled, “They Don’t Know” for Reggae Vibes Music Production on the riddim of the same name. This track features well known Harlem, New York based battle rapper Charlie Clips, and has been receiving rave reviews from rap/hip hop fans. “Be Ready”, a socially conscious track produced by Quik Keyz and featured on the “Public Relations” EP, has a video shot entirely on location in Uganda, Africa.
Delus who has previously toured Japan, Africa, the US and Europe, is poised and ready to forge ahead with his career. Currently signed to US based CityRock Entertainment, the future looks bright for Delus, who has been enjoying favorable responses to his latest singles “Afraid To Love Again”, “Cover Me” and “Things Get Real”. Delus is the consummate artiste, and continues to reinvent himself with his unique sound.
